AutoWebP Terms of Use & Commercial Agreement

Effective date: 27 August 2026.

These Terms of Use and Commercial Agreement ("Terms", "Agreement") constitute a legally binding agreement governing access to and use of AutoWebP.com, the AutoWebP Responsive Image Engine, the browser-based application, Progressive Web App, related website pages, software, interfaces, documentation, services and functionality (collectively, "AutoWebP" or the "Service").

AutoWebP is provided by Alpha & Omega Limited ("Alpha & Omega Limited", "we", "us" or "our").

References to "you", "your" or "user" mean any individual, business, organisation or other person accessing or using AutoWebP.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

By accessing, using, installing or otherwise interacting with AutoWebP, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use AutoWebP.

If you use AutoWebP on behalf of a company, organisation or other legal entity, you represent and warrant that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

2. Eligibility and Legal Capacity

You may use AutoWebP only if you are legally capable of entering into this Agreement or are using the Service with the valid permission and supervision required by applicable law.

You must not use the Service where doing so would violate any law, regulation, court order, sanction, contractual obligation or other legally binding restriction applicable to you.

AutoWebP is a local-first browser-based multi-format responsive image processing application.

4. Local-First Processing

AutoWebP is designed to perform its core image decoding, resizing and encoding operations locally within a compatible browser on the user's device.

The core conversion workflow does not require users to upload source images to an AutoWebP image-conversion server.

This does not mean that use of the AutoWebP website itself involves no network communications. Website pages, scripts, styles, application assets, updates and other resources may be requested through ordinary Internet infrastructure.

5. Free Service

AutoWebP is currently made available as a free-to-use Service.

No purchase is presently required to use the core functionality described on the AutoWebP website.

Free availability does not transfer ownership of AutoWebP, its software or any Alpha & Omega Limited intellectual property to users.

6. Licence to Use AutoWebP

Subject to these Terms, Alpha & Omega Limited grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable and non-sublicensable right to access and use the publicly provided AutoWebP Service for lawful personal, professional or commercial image-processing purposes.

This is a licence to use the Service. It is not a sale, assignment or transfer of ownership in the AutoWebP software, source code, application architecture, branding, website, documentation or other intellectual property.

7. Commercial Use of Generated Outputs

Subject to your ownership of, or lawful rights to use, the source material, AutoWebP may be used to create image outputs for personal and commercial projects.

For example, users may use legitimately generated outputs in websites, applications, publications, advertising, ecommerce stores, client projects and other lawful commercial activities.

This permission to use generated outputs commercially does not grant permission to commercially exploit, copy, redistribute, resell, rebrand or create a competing product from AutoWebP itself.

8. Your Source Files

As between you and Alpha & Omega Limited, you retain whatever ownership or other rights you lawfully possess in source images supplied by you to AutoWebP.

Alpha & Omega Limited does not claim ownership of a source image merely because you process that image using AutoWebP.

9. Your Generated Outputs

Alpha & Omega Limited does not claim ownership of generated image outputs merely because those outputs were created using AutoWebP.

Your rights in an output remain subject to the rights that exist in the underlying source material and applicable law.

Processing material through AutoWebP cannot create intellectual property rights that you did not otherwise possess or have permission to exercise.

10. Responsibility for Source Material

You are solely responsible for ensuring that you have all rights, permissions, licences, consents and lawful authority necessary to process any source image using AutoWebP.

You must not use AutoWebP to process material in a manner that unlawfully infringes:

AutoWebP and its associated materials are owned by, licensed to, or otherwise lawfully controlled by Alpha & Omega Limited, subject to any identified third-party components and their applicable licences.

12. No Right to Copy or Repackage AutoWebP

Unless Alpha & Omega Limited expressly authorises otherwise in writing or applicable law provides a right that cannot lawfully be restricted, you must not:

13. Reverse Engineering and Technical Restrictions

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you must not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or otherwise attempt to derive non-public proprietary components of AutoWebP for the purpose of reproducing, cloning, circumventing protections or creating an unauthorised competing copy of the Service.

Nothing in these Terms restricts rights that applicable law expressly provides and does not permit the parties to exclude.

14. Trade Marks and Branding

The names AutoWebP, AutoWebP.com, associated logos, branding and product presentation may constitute trade marks, branding, copyright works or other proprietary identifiers of Alpha & Omega Limited.

You may not use those identifiers in a manner that falsely suggests ownership, endorsement, sponsorship, affiliation or authorisation.

15. Third-Party Components

AutoWebP may rely on browser APIs, web standards, open-source components, third-party software or other technology governed by separate rights or licences.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to override rights granted under an applicable third-party or open-source licence.

16. Third-Party Codec Delivery and Open-Source Software

To provide broader local format support without uploading source images to a conversion server, AutoWebP may download pinned third-party codec program code to the user's browser through jsDelivr. Current codec technologies can include jSquash AVIF components, libheif-js, UTIF.js, gifenc and pako.

These components execute locally after delivery and remain subject to their applicable open-source licences. Availability of the code-delivery network, browser WebAssembly support, browser storage and future third-party package compatibility can affect a codec's availability. Alpha & Omega Limited does not claim ownership of third-party open-source components. A current component notice is available at THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt.

Downloading a codec module is different from uploading the user's source image for remote conversion. Users should nevertheless review the Privacy Policy for information about ordinary network metadata associated with software delivery.

17. Browser and Codec Compatibility

AutoWebP depends on capabilities supplied by browsers, operating systems and devices.

Image decoding, native codecs, local-running codec modules, file downloads, PWA installation, service workers, canvas operations, storage APIs and other functionality may differ between environments.

Alpha & Omega Limited does not guarantee that every feature will operate identically on every browser, operating system or device.

18. Output Variations

Compression results, file sizes, colour rendering, metadata, transparency behaviour, encoding performance and visual results may vary according to:

You are responsible for checking generated output before using it in a live, production, commercial or otherwise important environment.

20. Preserve Original Files

You should retain original source files and appropriate backups until you have independently confirmed that generated AutoWebP outputs satisfy your requirements.

You should not permanently delete irreplaceable source material solely because an output file has been generated.

21. No Destructive Source Modification

AutoWebP is designed to create new downloadable output rather than intentionally overwrite or delete original files stored on the user's device.

Nevertheless, users remain responsible for their own file management, downloads, storage locations, backups and subsequent actions performed outside the application.

22. Progressive Web App Installation

AutoWebP may be installed as a Progressive Web App on supported devices and browsers.

Installation depends upon browser, operating-system and device capabilities outside Alpha & Omega Limited's direct control.

Installing AutoWebP does not transfer ownership of the software to the user.

23. Offline Functionality

AutoWebP may provide an offline-capable application shell through service-worker caching.

Offline functionality depends on factors including successful service-worker registration, cached resources, browser storage, device settings and whether the browser retains those resources.

We do not guarantee permanent or uninterrupted offline availability.

24. Updates and Changes

Alpha & Omega Limited may update AutoWebP at any time.

Updates may add, remove, replace, modify or redesign:

AutoWebP is provided subject to availability.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted, continuous, error-free or permanent availability of the Service.

Access may be interrupted by maintenance, hosting problems, browser changes, software defects, security incidents, network failures, force majeure or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

26. Modification, Suspension or Discontinuation

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Alpha & Omega Limited may modify, suspend or discontinue all or part of AutoWebP.

Where reasonably practicable and appropriate, significant changes may be communicated through the website.

You must use AutoWebP lawfully and responsibly.

You must not use the Service to:

You must not use bots, scripts, crawlers, automated requests or other mechanisms in a manner that places an unreasonable or abusive load on AutoWebP infrastructure or interferes with the Service.

Ordinary legitimate search-engine indexing and other authorised access are not prohibited by this clause.

You must not attempt to defeat, bypass, disable or interfere with security measures protecting AutoWebP or its hosting infrastructure.

Security vulnerabilities should be reported responsibly rather than exploited.

AutoWebP's handling of personal information is described in the AutoWebP Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy forms an important part of the legal terms governing use of the Service.

31. External Links and Services

AutoWebP may contain links to third-party websites, platforms, products or services.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, Alpha & Omega Limited does not control independent third-party services and is not responsible for their availability, content, security, terms, privacy practices or operation.

32. No Professional Advice

AutoWebP is an image-processing utility.

Information supplied through the Service is not legal, accounting, financial, security, accessibility, regulatory or other professional advice.

Users remain responsible for determining whether their images, websites and projects comply with applicable technical, contractual and legal requirements.

33. No Guarantee of SEO or Performance Results

Responsive and compressed images can be useful components of website optimisation, but Alpha & Omega Limited does not guarantee that using AutoWebP will produce any particular:

34. No Warranty of Exact Compression Results

Image compression is dependent on the source image, selected settings, browser, codec and implementation.

No guarantee is made that a particular quality setting will produce a particular file size, compression percentage or visual result.

35. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AutoWebP is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

Except for guarantees, warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, Alpha & Omega Limited disclaims warranties, representations and conditions, whether express, implied, statutory or otherwise, including warranties or conditions of:

36. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law.

Subject to that qualification, to the maximum extent permitted by law, Alpha & Omega Limited and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, agents and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive or consequential loss arising from or relating to AutoWebP.

Because the core AutoWebP Service is currently provided without charge, and subject always to rights and liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, the aggregate liability of Alpha & Omega Limited arising out of or relating to the free Service will be limited to the greatest extent permitted by applicable law.

Nothing in this clause removes any mandatory statutory remedy available to you.

38. User-Caused Loss and Indemnity

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Alpha & Omega Limited and its officers, directors, employees, contractors and agents from third-party claims, liabilities, losses, damages and reasonable costs arising from:

This indemnity does not apply to the extent a claim or loss was caused by Alpha & Omega Limited's own conduct for which liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

39. Consumer Protection Laws

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any consumer guarantee, statutory right, remedy or liability that applicable law prohibits us from excluding, restricting or modifying.

If mandatory consumer protection law applies to you, these Terms operate subject to those mandatory protections.

40. New Zealand Consumer Law

Where applicable, these Terms are subject to mandatory rights and obligations under New Zealand law, including rights that cannot lawfully be contracted out of.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986 where those rights apply and cannot lawfully be excluded or modified.

Where AutoWebP is supplied and acquired in trade and applicable New Zealand law lawfully permits parties in trade to contract out of particular statutory provisions, any such exclusion will apply only where the legal requirements for contracting out have actually been satisfied.

41. Business Users

If you use AutoWebP for business or commercial purposes, you are responsible for assessing whether the Service and its outputs are suitable for your particular production requirements.

Business users should maintain appropriate backups, testing, quality assurance and deployment procedures rather than relying exclusively upon automated image processing.

42. Suspension or Restriction of Access

Alpha & Omega Limited may take reasonable technical or legal measures to restrict access to the Service where necessary to:

Because AutoWebP does not presently require a conventional user account for its core conversion workflow, you may generally stop using the Service at any time.

An installed PWA may be removed through the normal application or browser-management functionality provided by your device.

Provisions which by their nature should survive termination or cessation of use will continue to apply, including provisions concerning:

If you voluntarily provide suggestions, ideas, bug reports or general feedback concerning AutoWebP, you grant Alpha & Omega Limited permission to use that feedback for developing, improving and operating its products and services without an obligation to compensate you for the feedback itself.

This clause does not transfer ownership of source images or other unrelated intellectual property supplied merely for technical support.

47. Force Majeure

To the extent permitted by law, Alpha & Omega Limited will not be responsible for delay or failure caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, power failures, Internet outages, telecommunications failures, hosting failures, cyberattacks, governmental action, war, civil disturbance, industrial action or failures of third-party infrastructure.

Alpha & Omega Limited may amend these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in:

49. Governing Law

Except where mandatory law requires otherwise, these Terms and disputes arising from or relating to AutoWebP are governed by the laws of New Zealand, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

50. Jurisdiction

Subject to any mandatory rights you may have under applicable consumer or other law, the courts of New Zealand will have jurisdiction over disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or AutoWebP.

51. Good-Faith Dispute Resolution

Before commencing formal proceedings, the parties are encouraged, where reasonable, to attempt to resolve a dispute in good faith through direct communication.

Nothing in this clause prevents either party from seeking urgent interim or injunctive relief where appropriate.

52. No Waiver

A failure or delay by Alpha & Omega Limited in enforcing a provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other right.

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, that provision will be interpreted or modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable where legally possible.

If it cannot be preserved, it will be severed without affecting the remaining provisions.

54. Assignment

You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms where doing so would purport to transfer rights in AutoWebP itself without Alpha & Omega Limited's written consent.

Alpha & Omega Limited may assign or transfer its rights and obligations in connection with a lawful corporate reorganisation, merger, acquisition, asset transfer or similar transaction, subject to applicable law.

55. No Partnership or Agency

Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, employment relationship, franchise, fiduciary relationship or agency relationship between you and Alpha & Omega Limited.

56. No Third-Party Beneficiaries

Except where expressly stated or required by law, these Terms do not create enforceable rights for persons who are not parties to this Agreement.

57. Headings

Section headings are provided for convenience and do not limit or otherwise determine the interpretation of these Terms.

58. Electronic Agreement and Communications

You acknowledge that these Terms are provided electronically and that agreements, notices and communications relating to AutoWebP may, where legally permitted, be provided electronically.

59. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms expressly incorporated by reference, constitute the agreement governing use of AutoWebP concerning the matters they address.

They supersede prior general representations concerning use of the Service to the extent those representations conflict with these Terms, except for a separate written agreement expressly executed by Alpha & Omega Limited.

60. Interpretation

Words such as "including" and "includes" are intended to be illustrative and do not limit the preceding words.

References to applicable law include amendments and replacement legislation where appropriate.

Where these Terms conflict with a mandatory legal right that cannot lawfully be excluded, the mandatory legal right prevails to the extent of the conflict.
